Mariama in C&A wearthechange body

As part of my Sustainability Up Close project I test eco friendly clothing collections and give inspiration for little changes that can make a more sustainable lifestyle.

Today I checked out a C&A #WearTheChange bodysuit. Keep reading if you want to learn a little more about the C&A #WearTheChange clothing line in general or just jump right down to find my thoughts about the body!

About C&A #WearTheChange

#WearTheChange is the hashtag C&A’s more sustainable campaign is running under.

Is the mainly in Europe operating company even a competition for companies like H&M or Zara with their Conscious and Join Life clothing lines?

And most importantly are they actually sustainable?

Let’s find out!

C&A wearthechange Organic Cotton Tag

How sustainable is it really?

The Dutch-German-Belgian company C&A is compared to other fast fashion giants H&M and Zara quite deep in the sustainability game.

They have different categories of better produced clothing in their #WearTheChange Collections. The tags differentiate clearly what makes the article eco friendlier.

The categories are:

  • Cradle to Cradle
    • Cradle to Cradle Certified™ is a globally recognized measure of safer, more sustainable products made for the circular economy.
    • The Certification goes from Basic over Bronze and Silver up to Gold
  • Bio Cotton
    • Certified Organic Cotton
  • Recycled Material
  • Watersaving production
  • Better Resources
  • Certified High Animal Standards
  • Sustainable Fibres

Good On You even wrote a feature article bc C&A has a Good to Great Rating.

Unfortunately all C&A’s strive to better their productions environmentally still doesn’t mean that they are producing fair.

Nonetheless they keep a high level of transparency.

The Body

Alright so Zara isn’t really top notch on the overall sustainability scale. But how was the overall experience shopping, wearing and closely inspecting one single garment of the Zara Join Life fashion line?

Buying the Change

I used the C&A click and collect option. Which saved me most of the in Store struggle I really dislike. The delivery was quite slow. The current pandemic was probably not helpful there as well though.

When I went to pick up my parcel I was pleasantly surprised how clear #WearTheChange pieces were tagged and showcased. Every category has their own tag which gives your a pretty clear idea of what makes this piece more sustainable right away.

Wearing the Change

Last but not least: How did I like the body in the end?

I really liked it and I am impressed that it is made out of 95 % Organic Cotton. And that at a price of 17,45 €. The cut is alright, the fabric had a nice touch to it and the lace was surprisingly well done.

I feel really good with this piece of clothing. Taking the buying experience, the transparency and the looks into account I would definitely only go back to C&A for environmental friendlier fast fashion.

What I liked.

  • decent lace
  • nice fabric
  • 95 % organic cotton!
  • price

What annoyed me.

  • nothing to be honest
